How To Make Neoprene Rubber

The Cave of Isbelle

Exploring the trap downstream of the main river
December 12, 2009

Carriers: Robert, David , Philippe, Andre , Pascal and Didier .

The Ourthe is high today, its high throughput. The resurgence of Isbelle flows and the river too.
As for the Fountain of Thoth, but it flows well water is clear.
In the cave, the main river is clear, the flow and water level low. The flowing meanwhile delivers a bit more but the water is also very clear.

A little more flow in the siphon is a good thing, it will be easier to follow the flow of water suction.

This dive is made with the help and the request of Caving Club of Belgium to help Thomas diver main drains the cave.

Featured : I share
feet first, the first few meters are not large but does not worry me.
Soon the ground disappearing, I find myself in a gallery than a meter wide, the ceiling rises to + - 2 meters below the original surface.
I'm the thread around and downstream, I feel no power, fifteen feet away I agree with the view to the trap that Philip was equipped with a light cue.
few words exchanged and I'm leaving, leaving me running down the steep and loamy.
Towards -5 I reach on the right and the recess area of debris that Thomas described to me.

Eclipse:
first attempt in this hole. It's not a landslide, but a stratum area is recessed +-1m to the right, 2m wide and 1m high. A hole "calibrated" to the bottom seems to be following, I try to enter in feet first but quickly found an obstacle in my palms.

Thinking that it's not there, I come out, searching the area, the entire bottom of the main gallery, Nothing.
little break before the stratum, the particles pass before my mask the power is good.

The result: I
recessed area so again in the trap at the bottom of this stratum. Some searches end of palms make me understand that the transition is shifted downstream. Downhill trader to get my bottles. It is truly a squeeze bayonet that I crossed before recovering a bit of ease.
I also want to tie my thread then goes on descent.
finally I reach a wider area, so rolling back to 60cm, with a slight slope from 20 to 30 degrees downstream. The tips of fins, I feel a bedrock or gravel, good sign for the rest behind me. I'm 8m below the surface of S2 and I remain there.

End diving
The output of this trap is not obvious. The thread has taken its place among the rock slides that require me to fumble to find my way, visibility is improving fast enough. I
opens into the main gallery, the visibility is sufficient to recover a lost palms by Thomas during a previous dive and see the two rock slides that impede the entrance of the trap.

Conclusions:
The most important goals would be to push further to see if it goes back and hope that no more crossings benches. And also dive with a wire meters to better estimate the distance traveled.

The dives take on a dimension far more engaged with these squeezes and logistics will be affected (the largest air reservations required). The use of palms is not necessary.
We might consider unblocking a hammer breaking a few blades protruding but I it is not useful, some coming and going in there will quickly expand a little bit.
Thanks to the volunteers who took on the transport of gear and good luck for future dives.
