hole Jalleu: November 2008

Exploration Report:

From November 8 to 11, we will install the base camp to house communal Foncegrive.

A nice little team for this campaign: Daisy, the wife of Michel, Didier Havelange the NHS, Jean-Luc Carron Ch'ti solitary explorer and shitter hole Robert Lavoignat, locals and one of the first explorers this source.
Objective: topo, point, video, photo, drink and good weather.

11/08/2008
I glue the instalation of our rope guide for bearings. I do not dive alone, but with a special guest. Robert Lavoignat, one of the earliest explorers of this hole, following me camera in hand.

Crossing the mill is not an easy task, the current is strong and vibilité not terrible.
Once the rope in place, I wander around on my hand up to 160m. I feel confident and am very comfortable, although the campaign starts.
On leaving the mill, 20 minutes later, I m'apperçoit Robert is always there to film output. It must be numb with cold, poor thing.

We go together and after a few minutes of decompression we surface to make way for Didier.

This plunge a little over half an hour. It's his first dive in that hole and he also wears a B20 for the tip of the day. He will fight with the mill, but nevertheless passed without emcombre, it seems that he likes that hole. Michel
immersed in turn go to remove the scooter. He strives to rise above every time you shoot in the mill, the game is fun, but the current does not help us this weekend. Michael enjoys diving for a little stroll and visit the Well Lebel he did not know.

9/11/2008
we find Jean-Luc Carron at 10am in Champlitte. He comes to spend two days with us to lend a hand.

Michel from peak today. He topography of the area between 380 and 430 bells and then continued until the tip 480. He puts the reel just after a third big bell. This one is separated from the second by a passage in roll at -15.
Meanwhile, Jean-Luc attempts to cross the mill with a 10 liter for the next day. It must renounce and declare that "it is intimate, sporty but not horrible."

He nevertheless re-immerse for unwinding a yarn meter that allows me to lift the topography of the entrance area to the beginning of our wire explosion. Having this time crossed the mill with much less difficulty, he took the opportunity to raise the scooter Michel who joined us in the meantime.

Didier hand turn and makes a 10 liter bottom of laminoir.Je am shortly after the topographical survey, I bother with the second B10 I laid down for the tip the next day.

11/10/2008 This morning we were to meet Mr Kornprobst, Mayor of the village and very interested in our explorations. Mr Voisin we learn that unfortunately came early and we were not there yet.

Didier was the first dive to enjoy a better visibility than previous days. Some concern with his rebreather we will fall behind on the plane and finally Didier postpones his dive and decided to repair his machine quietly. Michel

me again lent his Apollo and decides bi12 300bars.Je to carry a relay 7 Extra liter until the recovery of my bi10 the other side of the mill, to -32.

While "I refine" my preparation (which I dragged ...), Michel immersed with Apollo to go and lodge near the bi10. I am in great shape, I feel that I'll make a nice plongée.Moins 10 minutes later, Michael resurfaced. The scooter is wedged full throttle in the middle of the mill, the control lever is broken against a rock.
Too bad, I'll try the tip to the palm, if not make a beautiful ballad because I doubt that my gas is self sufficient.

But an idea comes to me seeing as is Jean-Luc back of his van.
He left immediately and get back his own Apollo in working condition, fully loaded, and lend it to me free.
Michel restarts again with the second gear.
I crossed 10 minutes later in the pit entrance, visibility is poor, not even m'apperçoit pas.Récupération Scooters and relay 10 liters, I give up the 7 and I go to the North-East ... It grows well

, there is a current and sometimes I do not advance.
Also, my heavy loads really bother me, it will do with it. I detest
already a relay 10 liters just before the Well of Vertigo, and the second point 381, just before the restriction. I can hardly recognize the place.
The Apollo is abandoned in the first bell, I examine these bells but no departure is visible. Now

topo Point Michel. I let myself sink into a well until -15, it follows a rolling mill at the bottom of sand and gravel on 2 or 3 meters and I asser back quickly to the surface of the bell 3rd, 10m long. I found the reel, ready for the tip.

I let myself sink back towards the bottom of the bell and quickly reaches a low of -12. The gallery then rises gently interrupted by some erosion of blades, it seems to zigzag, sometimes a mooring right, sometimes left. The visibility is bad and I rarely n'apperçoit walls, it is not impossible that there is any other new bells.
arrived on a scree of large blocks, the reel "hold." And no, it is empty, the remaining 100 meters were not asser.
these rocks and the block size leave me suspecting the presence of a large bell on top of me. We'll see about that next time.

Return is tedious, the visibility does not help with navigating the scooter and the relays do not help. We will return in the spring.

Conclusion:
still a very good weekend of exploration, the exellent team spirit that helped us a lot, 150 meters from the first, bringing the development of the cavity to 685 meters.
As for Daisy, she preferred to ride a bike in the rain ... Damn bike ... :-)

Jalleu Hole: July 2008

« Jalleu Anniversaire ! »

Michel and I go to the next hole to make a dive that will prove fruitless unfortunately for both of us because of some hardware problems. Then we join the Cottage Chatenois to regain some strength. A favorite spot for rest and reflection ...

07/23/2008
I dive around 1:30, after wearing the Apollo Michel, took pictures and examines limits to a point 70 on the wire. It will be this time a very beautiful dive.
Michel, then went for a dip of 3:30, it runs over 30m again. This retracts
380m to the tip on our thread. Michael arrives at the base of 2 wells: one to the left base at -23, 8m penetration into the fracture. A right which pushed through to -24, the result is impenetrable. At least not found, the absence of current does not help. Jalleu is finished ... I think not!

07/24/2008
Michel managed to persuade me to go in despite my advanced appréhensions.La previous night will be agitated, I have already plunged into his head, difficult to evacuate stress, however, I manage to rest a few little.
Today, Michael gives me a helping hand to the port of Apollo and some trial photos ;-) Its bi12 300bar will be very useful to achieve this autonomy is also critical and I take 2 relays 7 liters lent by the SSE. Michel
passes me in the carriage and enjoy a little water.
I join him 15 minutes later, gets the "bike" and spins at full throttle towards the end. I head on my
regulators like crazy, the tension is very high, the atmosphere is electric water I mare due north on my frame, completely siphoned. I
exceed the label of 430mètres, ooops, topo! 10 meters back and I'll start. Some referred to later, the breadcrumb ends with a small loop, 380 meters, -23, the end of the trap ... No way, where does the water? A landslide? Cracks?
I leave in the sink left over 8m place and it pushed through. This small departure is a fracture perpendicular to the main gallery. Back at the terminal and I suddenly becomes aware of this clay casting off 2 meters and extending upwardly narrowing.
A-7, a vertical fracture of 3m high and 50cm wide maximum. I scraped a little mud with his hand, stirs somewhere behind me, I still believe, I know my face!
A year to the day after my "raw " here, about 400 yards downstream, I crossed the passage to the Egyptian and something shiny caught my eye. I turn on the back, a mirror, immense, some 6 meters high! I
surface, a beautiful bell 4m wide and 6 or 7 feet long, siphon crossing! A second bell
dimensions similar succeeded him, not starting above the surface damage.
under my palms, a gallery embedded 2 m wide, the base must lie to -8, thereafter. 50 meters of wire place, I am 500 meters from the entrance, I stop here for now.
The return will be much cooler, I might even some acrobatics with the scooter around the wire (and a forced landing in a heap of clay). 100 meters before the mill, I found waiting for me Michael is with happiness and pride that I take time out of my notebook to write her guidebook "50m and surface." The decompression will take about forty minutes with enriched air. Ongoing exploration.

Report exploration

05/16/2008
Champlitte I arrived in late afternoon, after a stint at the lodge Dardenay of where I deposited some of my equipment.
Above all, I spend a little visit of courtesy to the family Voisin. The old farmer leads me to the meadow for me where we can move without risk of bogging down trucks.
What follows is a small dive in the evening to equip the sink, the input shaft and the mill rope decoration. Jacques Petit Françoise Minne and join me at the cottage in the evening.

05/17/2008
By 14h, I'm going on two points alongside 10 and get my wing and the two 12 that Jacques has kindly deposited beyond Mill after installing a relay and a 10 liters Nitrox Oxy -3. I never décapelé / recappelé of my life and with the harness in the English and more ... I the train before, I am not well Fite.
after I arrive, 30m topo of the last peak of Michael and I going over 25m with a low of -40. I'm not cool, my hardware really bother me, I let the reel for Michael, and turned around.
rose to -3, Jacques is still in the landing, he dives in the air. I leave the water 15 minutes before him, very practical Nitrox. Michel arrived in the meantime, he immersed himself shortly after I left with a twin 300bar 12 alongside, 20 liters in relays and underwater scooter. He topography and tip my place over 65m, it goes back to -29. His decompression will pure oxygen using a hookah.

18/05/2008
Today, a little discouraged by my hardware troubles, I refuse to peak. This photo is a dive and go even closer after the 30-meter ceilings mill. Jacquouille, who does not want to commit too far advanced for us is very helpful, I vote to spend 8m below me to drop the scooter Michel. Actually, I just go back into a well without issue, until then unknown.
Michel arrives, gets on his "bike" and leading to the tip, I'm doing a little way with him for taking his picture.
Bearings accumulate quite a lot, it's time to go back. I finished my relief at -3 when Jacques joined me, he still has for a long time the poor. We do not know yet, but Michael has a problem, the throttle stuck at the Apollo substantive progress can be more secure. Never mind, hold it in a ceiling and continues to the tip to the palm. Result: 50 meter longer stop at -27 and a scooter left stranded in the trap.

05/19/2008
Diving recovery of the scooter, I glue myself with the support of Jacques since Mike had to return Sunday night. The machine waits
90 meters after the mill in the middle of the gallery, the engine groaned again. In return, I discovered at the bottom of the entry of P25 a fragmentation grenade in a well advanced ... Hands ... Brrr ... I try not to manipulate these objects, shoot a little search, and go back to no avail.

Conclusion:
a great weekend despite the weather deteriorated by the spring storms, 140 meters longer Hole in Jalleu who still has a lot of mystery to reveal to us, many things learned and still much to learn.
